The
Emergency Services Volunteer Length of Service Award Program Act, N.J.S.A.
40A:14-183 to -193, allows a county or municipality to make annual
contributions to active volunteer members of emergency service organizations
operating under their respective jurisdictions if the member earns points for participating
in certain activities. The Act permits a county or municipality to require
members of its volunteer fire department
to earn a minimum number of points for fire department responses as a
condition for the annual contribution; however, the municipality did not impose
such a condition in its implementing ordinance. 05-16-12
